As we all feel the chilly bite of winter, so do our vehicles! Like a human body, the cold weather is also tough on our cars. Bakkies and SUV’s. If you are on the roads during the winter season – best you have everything in working order so your vehicle does not give you any unnecessary trouble, which most of the time can be avoided.
Think about it, if your vehicle had to stall out in the middle of nowhere during a stormy night, would you be prepared?
Here are some winter survival guidelines to ensure you don’t get stuck in the mud (literally)
- Keep jumper cables on hand – You never know when you will need these! So, it’s best you keep them in your car and not laying around in your garage.
- Fuel Up – Always ensure your gas is at least at the halfway mark because if your gas is close to being empty, this makes it susceptible to condensation which will prevent your car from starting.
- Check your tires – An underinflated tire is prone to a blowout, which is a tear in the tire that results in rapid air loss. On the positive side, having tires adequately inflated will minimize your trips to the fuel station.
- Windscreen Check – Make sure your current wipers aren’t streaking your windshield! Wiper blades being replaced is the difference between safe visibility and a possible accident, all because you were not able to see through the vehicle windshield.
- Check your car battery – Temperature often influences your vehicle’s battery performance. If you have tried charging your car battery and it cannot hold a charge, you need to bring it to CMH Mahindra Durban, and our technicians will gladly assist you.
