Mumbai, 14 August 2026

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. on Friday unveiled its Global Pik Up, now set to be launched as Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler in India. First showcased as a concept in Cape Town, South Africa, in August 2023, the pickup will be launched as the Mahindra Lifestyler across international markets, marking a significant milestone in Mahindra’s global growth journey.

Designed at Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai and developed at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai, the Scorpio Lifestyler is built for a bigger world. Designed for both payload and playload, the Scorpio Lifestyler seamlessly combines utility, adventure and everyday comfort.

The Scorpio Lifestyler is set to make its debut by April 2027.

Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said:

“From the outset, our vision was to create a world-class global pickup that raises the bar for the segment while remaining true to Mahindra’s strengths in authentic capability and value. The Scorpio Lifestyler is a testament to the strong product development capabilities at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV). Built on our advanced next-generation body-on-frame architecture, it has been engineered to deliver the capability, durability, safety and refinement demanded by customers around the world.”

This philosophy is reflected in the three editions showcased today: Valley celebrates purposeful refinement, Reef embodies freedom and exploration, and Trail captures the spirit of boundless adventure. Together, they express our vision of a pickup that celebrates individuality while remaining rooted in capability, authenticity and the freedom to explore without limits.”

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said:

Three Distinct Expressions

The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler has been engineered to adapt seamlessly across diverse terrains, environments and pursuits. To showcase the breadth of its character and capability, Mahindra has unveiled three distinctive expressions, each inspired by a unique way of exploring the world around us and the evolving needs of a new generation of pickup customers.

Valley Edition

Created for those who seek a harmonious blend of work and leisure, the Valley Edition combines practicality with refined comfort. Finished in Artemis Grey, its colour draws inspiration from the rich, layered hues of expansive estates.

Trail Edition

Bold and adventurous, the Trail Edition embodies the go-anywhere character of the Scorpio Lifestyler. Finished in Sahara Beige, it takes inspiration from vast sandscapes and the pursuit of new horizons.

  • Bolero MaXX extends a differentiated platform strategy focused on the lowest cost per kilometre (CPK)
  • Three payload options designed for distinct customer applications and operational needs
  • Durable and reliable powertrain with exceptional fuel economy
  • Enhanced customer support and dedicated fleet strategy strengthen ownership experience
  • Starting price of R199 000 for the City 1.3T model

Centurion, 11 August 2026

Mahindra South Africa today unveiled the next phase of its single-cab strategy with the launch of the all-new Bolero MaXX Pik-Up, a strategic addition to its expanding portfolio of purpose-built transport solutions.

Designed to serve a wide range of customer applications and built on one of Mahindra’s most trusted nameplates in South Africa, the new model strengthens Mahindra’s offering in the single-cab segment. It also reinforces the brand’s focus on delivering industry-leading cost-per-kilometre (CPK) performance and total cost of ownership.

As one of South Africa’s leading players in the single-cab segment, Mahindra has established a strong presence by serving the needs of entrepreneurs, fleet operators, agricultural businesses, contractors and municipalities. The introduction of the Bolero MaXX marks a major step in the company’s expanded platform strategy, further broadening its portfolio of purpose-built transport solutions.

Built on one of Mahindra’s most trusted and recognised nameplates, the Bolero MaXX builds on a legacy of reliability, durability, ease of maintenance and strong value, while enabling customers to choose the solution best suited to their operational requirements and business objectives.

The Bolero MaXX is available through more than 100 Mahindra dealerships nationwide in three variants: the 1.3 City, 1.5 City and 1.7 HD. With payload capacities of 1.3 tonnes, 1.5 tonnes and 1.7 tonnes respectively, the range is designed to support a wide variety of commercial applications while delivering strong efficiency, productivity and operating economics.

Alongside the new Bolero MaXX, Mahindra’s established Pik Up S4 and S6 range will continue to cater for higher-speed and longer-distance transport requirements. Together, the two product families provide customers with a broad range of single-cab solutions tailored to different operational needs and applications.

The Bolero MaXX range is offered with load body lengths of 2.5 metres on the 1.3 City, 2.64 metres on the 1.5 City and 3.05 metres on the 1.7 HD. All three models can accommodate a standard pallet between the wheel arches, providing practical load-carrying versatility across a variety of commercial applications.

Despite their generous load-carrying capability, all Bolero MaXX models can be driven with a standard Code B driver’s licence. Their compact dimensions, low mass and manoeuvrability also make them well suited to operating in areas where larger commercial vehicles may face access constraints.

Cost-effective Operation

Mahindra’s platform strategy is centred on delivering strong operating economics for customers. The Bolero MaXX has been engineered with this focus, offering fuel consumption from 5.9 l/100 km and 20 000 km service intervals to maximise uptime and minimise maintenance requirements.

Powering the range is Mahindra’s proven m2Di diesel engine, which produces 52 kW and 200 Nm in the 1.3 City and 1.5 City models, and 60 kW and 220 Nm in the 1.7 HD. All variants feature rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual transmission.

For added peace of mind, every Bolero MaXX is backed by a 4-year/120 000 km standard warranty and roadside assistance, with optional service plans available for customers seeking fixed and predictable ownership costs.

Features That Matter

While the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up is designed as a capable workhorse, Mahindra has also focused on driver and crew comfort. The cabin features wide cloth seats in a driver-plus-two configuration.

On the 1.5 City and 1.7 HD models, the seats are finished with a stain-resistant coating for enhanced durability, while the driver’s seat offers a reclining function along with reach and height adjustment.

Air conditioning, heating and demisting are standard on the 1.5 City and 1.7 HD, complemented by a powerful blower system and intuitive controls. These models also feature a lockable air-cooled glovebox, while bottle holders, cabin lamps and a 12V power socket enhance everyday practicality.

Safety remains a key focus, with rear parking sensors standard across the range and ABS available on the 1.5 City and 1.7 HD models. Strong metal bumpers, underbody and side protection on the HD variant, an immobiliser, and emergency locking retractor (ELR) seatbelts for the driver and passengers further contribute to occupant and vehicle protection.

Strengthening Customer Experience

Mahindra’s commitment to customers extends beyond the vehicle itself, with a continued focus on service, support and long-term ownership value. Recent initiatives include:

Reach-Out Programme

A customer support initiative that commits to acknowledging and addressing customer concerns within 24 hours, helping to enhance responsiveness and customer confidence.

Dealer Fleet Strategy

A dedicated programme that strengthens fleet sales capabilities across Mahindra’s dealer network through specialised training and tailored commercial vehicle solutions for fleet operators, corporate customers and government organisations.

Supported by an expanding dealer network, growing parts infrastructure and ongoing investments in South Africa, these initiatives reflect Mahindra’s long-term commitment to delivering a reliable and customer-focused commercial vehicle experience.

  • Rajesh Gupta, current CEO of Mahindra South Africa, takes over a global mandate in Mahindra and Mahindra as Regional Business Head for South Africa, ANZ and South Asia
  • Ankit Taneja, currently National Manager for Mahindra Australia, will take over as CEO of Mahindra South Africa

Centurion, South Africa – 26 April 2026

Mahindra South Africa has announced a change to its key leadership position with Rajesh Gupta, current CEO of Mahindra South Africa, appointed as Regional Head for South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and South Asia for the parent company Mahindra and Mahindra.

This global role recognises his outstanding leadership and contribution to the brand’s international growth in his current tenure. In his new position, Rajesh will assume executive responsibility for major international markets for Mahindra Automotive, including South Africa, which continues to be a priority market in his portfolio.

Ankit Taneja, currently National Manager Mahindra Australia, will succeed Rajesh as CEO of Mahindra South Africa and will be based at its head office in Centurion.

This leadership transition reflects both continuity and progression, with a clear focus on building a resilient, locally relevant, and future-ready organisation. It also marks a strengthening of leadership capacity at Mahindra South Africa. With Rajesh’s continued oversight of the market in his regional role and Ankit’s focused in-country leadership, the organisation is well positioned to build on its current momentum.

Entering the new financial year (FY27), Mahindra South Africa is supported by a strong product pipeline, with multiple new launches planned across categories, complemented by continuous progress on localisation, and a clear intent to deepen its manufacturing footprint over time. The foundation built over the past eight years provides a platform to further strengthen Mahindra’s market presence, enhance value for dealer partners, and continue building a competitive organisation for the long term.

A Record-Breaking Journey of MSA Over the Last 8 Years

Rajesh began his role as CEO of Mahindra South Africa in January 2018, when the company retailed 505 vehicles through a network of 55 dealers. This month, Mahindra South Africa celebrated its highest sales month ever, retailing 2 284 units through 106 dealerships nationwide.

Rajesh Gupta next to the Mahindra Scorpio-N

In the most recent financial year, Mahindra South Africa achieved sales of 18 789 vehicles, setting a record and reaching a market share of 3.18%, up from 0.7% in 2018. The key pillars of his growth journey have been:

Localisation

Mahindra South Africa is committed to long-term localisation with the launch of its first assembly facility in late 2018. The operation has since expanded into purpose-built facilities with a monthly capacity of 1 500 units.

Cultural Transformation

The introduction of the Mahindra Fusion Fest in 2025, a unique blend of Fusion of Art, Music and Fashion of different genres that gives the people of the youthful, vibrant Rainbow Nation a platform to express themselves.

Fleet Connect

Programmes to establish Mahindra as a key player for fleets in South Africa by providing tailored mobility solutions and 24/7 support to major fleet customers.

Reach-out

Reaching out to customers via innovative channels and tailor-made after-sales service solutions, with a central warehouse making sure that part availability is not a challenge.

Ecosystem

Ensuring steady, sustainable growth over the last eight years through excellent brand partnerships and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Brand partnerships range from the Joburg Super Kings to conservation efforts with the SORAI rhino protection initiative.

These unique approaches have won Mahindra South Africa various industry accolades, including three Car of the Year Category Awards (COTYs), a Gold Award from the National Automobile Dealer Association, and awards within the Mahindra and Mahindra ecosystem. In the past eight years, MSA has been the fastest-growing automotive brand in South Africa three times.

“The focus has always been on building a business that is relevant locally and sustainable over time. That means staying close to customers, working closely with partners, and ensuring that the organisation is aligned in how it executes.

“As we move into the next phase, the priority will be to continue strengthening these fundamentals, simplifying how we operate, enabling our teams and maintaining consistency in delivery across markets.

“The opportunity ahead is meaningful, but it will be shaped by clarity and discipline in execution. It was a great journey in South Africa for me, and I am happy that in my future role South Africa will remain a focus market for me.

“I would also like to welcome Ankit who has created an excellent growth journey for Mahindra in Australia and with his rich experience will be pivotal for next growth phase of Mahindra South Africa,” said Rajesh on his transition.

The new CEO of Mahindra South Africa, as well as the executive teams from New Zealand, Australia and other countries in South Asia, will report to Rajesh in his new role.

Mahindra Fusion Fest Returns Bigger and Bolder to Celebrate South Africa’s Creative Spirit

Mahindra Fusion Fest Returns Bigger, Bolder and More Immersive

Mahindra Fusion Fest 2026

  • Sold-out show as fans and friends of the brand join South Africa’s most unique festival of South African culture in music, fashion and art
  • Mahindra celebrates milestone of 10 000 XUV 3XO customers in South Africa
  • Fusion Fest forms part of the Mahindra Group’s global cultural outreach celebrating art, music and fashion
  • Festival brings Mahindra’s Rise philosophy to life by creating opportunities for emerging talent

Pretoria, South Africa – 9 March 2026

Mahindra Fusion Fest returned this year bigger, bolder and more immersive, bringing together thousands of fans, artists and creators for one of South Africa’s most distinctive celebrations of music, fashion and art. What began as a bold cultural experiment last year has quickly evolved into a national platform that celebrates creativity while connecting communities across the country.

The 2026 edition culminated in a spectacular grand finale at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday, 7 March, following a nationwide build-up that began months earlier. Mahindra hosted vibrant campus and cultural activations in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, bringing the Fusion Fest spirit directly to communities and creating excitement across the country before the final showcase.

Through these roadshows and dealership-led initiatives, Mahindra invited young creators, musicians, artists and designers to participate in a nationwide talent search, reinforcing the festival’s purpose as a platform for emerging talent rather than just a stage for established performers.

The response was overwhelming with hundreds of entries received from aspiring musicians, artists and fashion designers across South Africa, culminating in an unforgettable evening where thousands of fans filled the SunBet Arena.

“The youthful vibrancy of the Rainbow Nation is something we experience every day across South Africa — in its music, fashion, art and the remarkable creativity of its people.

“Fusion Fest was created to celebrate exactly that spirit. Inspired by the shared philosophies of Ubuntu and Vasudeva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), the festival brings together diverse voices and artistic expressions on one platform, reflecting Mahindra’s belief that communities grow stronger when they come together.

“This year, we also wanted to go beyond celebration and create opportunity. Through a nationwide talent search, supported by our dealer network, we invited emerging musicians, artists and fashion designers to showcase their talent, with winners receiving prize money and the opportunity to perform on a national stage. The incredible response we received from young creators across the country reinforces why platforms like Fusion Fest matter.

“As Mahindra continues its journey in South Africa, initiatives such as this reflect our Rise philosophy in action — celebrating creativity, supporting communities and creating opportunities for the next generation to shine,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

The festival itself is part of the Mahindra Group’s global cultural outreach, an initiative through which the Group supports and celebrates art and culture across the world.

Through its products, services and a strong commitment to corporate responsibility, the Mahindra Group has long sought to enable positive change in individuals and communities globally. Cultural outreach forms an important part of this journey — connecting with communities through specially created programmes that celebrate creativity, spark conversations across cultures and create meaningful impact.

These initiatives are not simply sponsorships. Each programme is designed with a strategic purpose — strengthening the connection between Mahindra and the communities it serves while nurturing the artistic ecosystems that define those communities.

Fusion Fest represents this philosophy in action.

2026: A Fusion of Legends and New Icons

The 2026 showcase featured four genre-defying musical fusions, paired with immersive fashion designs and cutting-edge visual art:

Rewind the Revolution

This nostalgic journey was led by Zoë Modiga and featured legends such as Mafikizolo, Kurt Darren and Claire Johnston, with fashion by Imprint and pop art by Shaun ‘Damn Vandal’ Oakley.

Hip Hop Most High

One of the most anticipated segments brought together a powerful blend of hip hop and spiritual praise, featuring Blxckie, Maglera Doe Boy, and the Tshwane Gospel Choir. This was complemented by fashion from The Bam Collective and art by illustrator Ndumiso Nyoni.

Femme for All

The third Fusion celebrated “girl power” with Naledi Aphiwe, Karen Zoid, Nomfundo Moh, and Mariechan, set against immersive media art by Inka Kendzia.

All About Now

As a final crescendo, the production team created a contemporary Amapiano showcase featuring youth icons Zee Nxumalo, Focalistic, and Daliwonga, with fashion by Munkus and street art by Bushy Wopp.

Together We “Rise”

For the 2026 edition, Mahindra also launched a nationwide talent search for the most exciting emerging artists, musicians and fashion designers.

“This year, we set aside a cash prize of R30 000 per category and a spot on stage for budding artists, musicians and fashion designers. We also invited our dealer network to join in the search,” says Rajesh.

“Our dealers surprised us by turning their showrooms into talent hubs, giving novices with big dreams a platform. It was a perfect representation of the South African spirit and Mahindra Rise in action.”

At the event, Thando Micky was revealed as the winner of the music competition. Mahindra also rewarded two runners-up with R10 000 each toward their professional careers. Additionally, the festival showcased the work of Andile Cele as the winning novice fashion designer and Anda Mncayi as the winning creative artist.

Driving the Future: The XUV 3XO

Fusion Fest also showcased Mahindra’s evolving automotive identity through the Mahindra XUV 3XO, which continues to resonate strongly with a new generation of South Africans.

Inspired by the Discover the X philosophy, the compact SUV represents Mahindra’s growing presence in new segments and its commitment to design, technology and performance.

The model recently crossed a significant milestone in South Africa with over 10 000 units retailed, making it one of the fastest-growing vehicles in Mahindra’s local portfolio. The model also secured SA COTY 2025 in Motor Enthusiast’s Choice category.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, Ntombhi Mkalipi from Pretoria drove away in a brand-new Mahindra XUV 3XO, awarded during the festival after participating in a nationwide Mahindra test-drive campaign.

As Mahindra moves into its third decade in South Africa — having established a strong local footprint with over 100 000 customers and a significant assembly plant in Durban. Platforms like the Mahindra Fusion Fest reflect the company’s belief that brands must go beyond products to create meaningful connections with the communities they serve.

In that spirit, Fusion Fest stands as both a celebration of South African creativity and a powerful expression of Mahindra’s enduring belief that when cultures, ideas and people come together — Together We Rise.
